7 Days Nairobi and Arusha National Park Birding Adventure

This is a five day wildlife safari that starts from the city of Nairobi in Kenya and proceeds across the nearby border post of Namanga where after you clear with the immigration and customs departments you continue Arusha National Park for a three day trip into this wonderful wildlife sanctuary that is just north of the Tourist Capital of Arusha. Your exciting birding trip in Arusha National Park on the slopes of Mt Meru offers a unique opportunity to spot the Avifauna that are endemic to this region. Bird life here is prolific and the days spent with our ornithologist/guide should be rewarding.

Day 1: Arrival- Nairobi
Upon arriving in Nairobi at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our tour manager who will then brief you on your safari, thereafter you will be driven to Serena Hotel where you will check-in and have an early lunch. (We assume that you arrive by the morning flight). After lunch, send the afternoon at leisure before proceeding to Arusha, Tanzania the following day. All meals and overnight stay at Nairobi Serena Hotel

Day 2: Nairobi Birding Tour
We spend this day spotting the birds of Nairobi around the Aboretum and the Rift Valley escarpment. Dinner and overnight in Nairobi.

Day 3: Nairobi National Park Birding Tour
Most of this day is spent in the nearby Nairobi National Park and the surrounding areas searching out the part of the numbers that make up the over 1100 bird species that are found in Kenya.

Day 4: Nairobi- Arusha
After breakfast at the Hotel, you will depart for your trip to Arusha National Park just over two hundred kilimeters from Nairobi on the Tanzania side of the border. As you drive south towards Arusha as you will enjoy the scenic beauty of Kenya’s and Tanzania’s fields and grasslands, arriving in the park in time for lunch. After lunch spend the afternoon viewing bird life in this veritable birding paradise. Dinner and overnight at a lodge in the park.

Day 5: Arusha- Arusha National Park
A full day bird watching in this park that is in the shadow of Mt Meru, Tanzania's second tallest mountain.

Arusha National Park host unique bird life, some of which are only found in the park such as the White Fronted bee eaters, the rare Spike heeled Lark usually found in open grass lands of Ol Donyo Sambu village; and many other numerous species.

Dinner and overnight at a lodge in the park.

Day 6: Arusha National Park
Before dawn we head out in search of Africa’s bird life wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast, and thereafter go for the birding tour which will include going up to Momela lakes in search of water birds. Have packed lunch and continue with the tour till dusk. Dinner and overnight at Ilboru Safari Lodge

Arusha National Park boosts of spectacular water birds in the park which include the Crowned eagle, White fronted bee-eater, Hartlaubs Turaco, White eared barbet, Silvery cheeked hornbill, White starred robin, Montane white eye, Waller's starling, Tropical boubou, , Mountain buzzard Maccoa duck, Little grebe, Greater cormorant, Grey heron as well as the Little egret.

Day 7: Arusha National Park- Arusha-Departure.
Pre- breakfast bird touring, return to the lodge for breakfast, thereafter depart the lodge for Nairobi or Arusha.
