Trip Highlights:This is
an eleven days safari that starts from Nairobi and ends in
Nairobi. It takes you into western Kenya Ecotourism and cultural
visit to the Luo and Luhya tribes. You will be able to immerse
yourself into the rich Luo and Luhya Community cultures while
at the same time visiting scenic Nyanza Lake Victoria region
and Western province's Rain forests and cliffs.You will be
travelling in a Mini tour van and staying in the best accommodations
in every place you stop over for dinner and overnight.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival - Nairobi - Kisumu
City
Depart Nairobi in the morning, have lunch at Kericho town.
Walk in the tea plantations then drive via Lwanda Magere (the
Luo warrior who was killed and turned into a stone) continue
to Kisumu arriving late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Ndere island National Park
- Kisumu City Tour
After breakfast drive to Dunga beach, take a leisure boat
to Ndere Island National park to see some game and bird life.
Ride the boat back to Dunga beach. Drive to Kit- Mikaye (
This rock is where Mikaye the mother of Luo tribe sheltered
herself after along journey down the Nile) drive back to
Kisumu for Lunch.
After Lunch, go for a Kisumu City tour which
takes you to Impala park, Kisumu Museum ,The Kisumu city market,
Children's Homes, women groups , Kisumu beach Resort, Tilapia
beach, Kiboko Bay and back to your hotel.

Day 3: Kisumu - Kakamega Forest
After breakfast, drive to Kakamega via the weeping stone ,
have a full day exploration of Kakamega forest in search of
birds, butterflies and animals such as debraza, colobus, blue
and red tailed monkeys and olive baboons.Over 30 varieties
of snakes including the deadly gaboon viper, Jamesons mamba
and black mamba are found here among other animals. Great
and very old indigenous trees, some are hundreds of years
old. Have Lunch at the camp site and continue with your tour
of the forest till 4.00pm when you retire
at Rondo Retreat Resort for Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kakamega - Kogelo Village
Depart Kakamega after breakfast, head through Kisumu Busia
road. You will then reach Maseno University gates and proceed
just 150 meters from the Maseno University gates to the Equator
Line Point. After a photographic session on the Equator line,
you will proceed to Luanda town then, you will divert to the
left heading straight to Ngiya market. If you arrive on a
Tuesday, then you will be lucky to have a glimpse of the market
day at Ngiya. You then proceed and divert onto the left just
before you reach Mbeji Academy onto the Murram road. You will
then take about 15 minutes before you arrive at the Kogelo
Dispensary on your right. After a visit of the dispensary
proceed to the Kogelo market, Kogelo primary school and Senator
Barack Obama Secondary School. You will then enter Sarah Obama's
home behind the secondary school.

at Kamito beach in readiness for the next morning trip to
Lwanda Kotieno then to Mbita Point.
Day 5:- Kamito - Alego Siaya (Cultural
Tourism)
After morning breakfast, you will depart for Siaya in Alego
where you will be taken to the local homesteads where you
will experience the cultural dances, Nyatiti traditional music,
Ohangla playing and the local community market. You will also
visit the local dispensary and the local market at Kogelo
You will then proceed, time allowing into the local secondary
and primary schools where you may donate you educational books
if any. You will then drive back to Kamito at the end of the
day.
Day 6:Asembo Bay - Kamito
You will involve yourself in the day to day women activities
along the beaches. You will visit the local homesteads and
see what the women under take on the day to day affairs. Visit
a local health centre, a primary school and an orphanage for
Children in Asembo Aram and visit the local market in the
afternoon. Lunch will be served at your residence.

Day 7:Kamito - Mbita Point Full Day
After breakfast, proceed to Lwanda Kotieno for your Ferry
ride to Mbita point. You will arrive and check in at Lake
Victoria Safari Village Resort for your stay in this lake
side town. Have a full day in Mbita visiting the site at Ligongo
Hills where Dr. Mary Leakey discovered the skull of early
man - Proconsul Africanus. This archaeological finding is
kept in the Kenya National Museum in Nairobi. The hill also
acts as the Vantage Point to see on rotation how water has
gone round the Island. Visit the Tom Mboya Mausoleum, built
in memory of the vibrant Politician by similar name that was
gunned down in 1963 which evoked demonstrations all over the
Country. Tom Mboya was interred at his ancestral home in Kamasengre
Village in Rusinga Island. Enjoy the mythological story of
Nyama gi Ware the stones which are believed to have been bulls
fighting from these different Clans. Get a ride around the
Island back to Mbita in the evening, picnic lunch en route,
dinner and overnight at the Lake Victoria Safari Village Resort.

Day 8: Mbita- Ruma National Park
Depart after breakfast drive through hills and meandering
road to Ruma national park with a picnic lunch, do game viewing
drives then drive out to Thim Lich Ohinga onto Gogo falls
then back to Mbita point for Dinner and Overnight at Lake
Victoria Safari Village Resort.

Day 9:Mbita Point (Luo cultural immersion
-Full Day).
After breakfast a visit to a local primary school which is
in dire need of teaching equipments occupies the morning.
Enjoy lunch at the hotel after which proceed for a traditional
boat ride followed by optional activities e.g. a walk to Gembe
Hills which is on the vicinity of your accommodation and has
quite a number of Birds with a very tranquil surrounding.
We proceed by visiting a local Catholic Church,Women groups
organized by the widows as a result of HIV/ AIDS scourge,
Orphaned children whose parents died of AIDS related diseases,
Tom Mboya Memorial Hospital and the development projects which
are being financed by voluntary groups etc Visit one or two
local homes and get to know the real picture of how the common
rural families are going over there usual choruses economically,
socially and politically. Join fishermen pulling fish to the
shore in the evening and get to learn how Luos as a tribe
depends entirely on Fish as the source of their livelihood.

Day 10: Mbita – Homa bay -
kendu bay - kisumu.
Early morning boat ride on lake Victoria before breakfast
to chat with the fishermen. After breakfast, drive to Homa
bay town and have lunch at Homabay hotel. Proceed to Pala
hot springs and then to Simbi Nyaima before you proceed to
Kendu bay and then to the famous Odino falls where you will
find a modern Electric hydro project producing power. proceed
to kisumu city for dinner and overnight at the Imperial Hotel.

Day 11:Kisumu - Nairobi
Early morning breakfast, then depart for Nairobi via Kisii
town with a stop over at Tabaka soap stone carving site at
Kisii and pass through the Great Rift Valley back to the city
of Nairobi. Lunch at Nakuru town at Merica hotel then proceed
to Nairobi arriving late in the evening with a transfer to
a hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Nairobi - Departure
On this day, you will pack your bags in readiness for your
departure flight at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Time
allowing, you will go for a Nairobi City tour before departure.
