 Africa is better suited for camping adventures due to its many under canvas camps and camping sites situated within its rich National Parks and Reserves not to mention camping sites situated in various establishments including hotels, lodges and resorts. Clients can travel in two modes; Private Camping safaris or Group Camping safaris.
These are classified as follows;
Private camping safaris;
These are safaris for camping adventures meant for two or more clients who travel together and are not strangers to one another. They travel exclusively in one vehicle throughout their trip and stay exclusively within the tented camp or camp site on their own sharing facilities and having meals amongst themselves. Clients on a Private safari will not be joined by any other person who intents to go for the same safari. They travel exclusively throughout the trip.
Group camping safaris;
These are Camping safaris for groups of individuals( Or Corporate) travelling together on a camping adventure or alternatively, where various individuals book differently for the safaris and travel together in a van, a 4x4 Safari vehicle and alternatively depending on the number of groups, in an overland truck. These are mostly solo travellers, corporate individuals, Students or strangers travelling together and sharing transport, meals and accommodation where necessary during the trip in order to cut cost. Or if in a group safari, known members of a particular group travelling together.
Camping Adventure safaris in Africa are categorized in two sectors which include: - Mobile camping safaris and fixed camping safaris;
 Fixed camping adventure safaris are trips into a Game reserve or National park where tourists stay in a fixed camp under canvas. These are tented houses which are built within or outside the National parks and reserves with sanitary facilities and ablutions provided in various tents or provided for in the vicinity of the camp under canvas tented houses. Clients stay in tented houses and share a common dining hall.
Mobile camping adventure Safari; is whereby the tourists travel together with their tents, food, camping equipments and their camping vehicle ready to peach a camp at a camp site where their interests are. The above categories are further divided into other sectors which include:-
Budget camping safaris, luxurious camping safaris, luxurious mobile safaris and luxurious fixed camping safaris.
Budget camping safaris (Group & Private)
These are camping safaris meant for those who have a tight shoestring budget for their travel in Africa, they are meant for those who would want to spend as little and see as much as possible during their trips without caring for luxurious accommodation so long as they can have shelter and sanitary facilities within reach during their travel. The clients mostly carry their camping equipment with them which include; tent, mattress, boots, clothes, drinking water, snacks and climbing gear for mountaineers. These clients pay for camping sites, park entrance fees, food and transport during their travel. The rates per day for these clients range between US$ 20 - US$ 100 and include; food, transport and campsite fees. Park entrance fees are usually paid separately as a local payment.
The clients meant for these budget safaris include the students, back packers and those individuals who travel solo or in a group.
 Luxurious camping safaris (Group & Private)
These are both fixed and mobile camping safaris which are undertaken lavishly. In these types of camping safaris, clients stay under canvas but have all what it takes that an individual can get for a five or four star hotel. This type of camping safari provides luxurious facilities for clients on these trips. The Luxurious facilities include; staying under canvas with a flash toilet, Hot and Cold showers, Luxurious beds and well furnished room, well prepared meals taken at a dining hall with all cutlery which conforms to the 4 or 5 star restaurant.
Luxurious mobile camping safaris (Group & Private)
This is a camping safari where the clients travel in an overland truck or a custom truck or land cruiser for the trip with all luxurious camping equipment, chef and food on board. On arrival at the camping site the crew will pitch a camp and tents with all luxurious facilities like the ones you will find in a four or five star hotel. These include showers, beds and linen. The crew will then dismantle the camp to another destination as per the itinerary.
Luxurious Fixed camping safaris
This is a camping safari trip where clients stay in tents within a tented camp with all the facilities that depict 4 or 5 star hotel accommodation. The tents have well furnished rooms with both hot and cold showers well furnished dining hall with waiters and well tended lawn. These tents are usually located at specific view points and have Verandas where clients can have panoramic views of the African magnificent sceneries. |
